    Export by air
    Airfreight is used mainly for exporting fresh seafood with a short shelf life.

    • Room-temperature seafood

    • Most of the room-temperature seafood exported by air is dried sea cucumber and dried scallops.
    • No refrigeration is required, and the products are exported in the same way they were received.

    Chilled seafood

    • Chilled seafood exported by air is mainly fresh fish, processed fresh fish products, and sea urchin.
    • Refrigeration is required, and the goods and cold packs are packed in a foamed polystyrene box.
    • A general cold pack can maintain a temperature below 10 degrees Celsius for about 12 hours.

    Frozen seafood

    • Frozen seafood exported by air is mainly shrimp, crab, and frozen fish.
    • Refrigeration is required, and the goods and dry ice are packed in a foamed polystyrene box.
    • Depending on the amount of dry ice, it will evaporate in 16 to 20 hours.
    • Dry ice is classified as a hazardous materials in air transportation, and there is a weight limit for the amount that can be loaded on each aircraft type.
    • Some airlines or routes may not handle the transportation of goods containing dry ice.

    Live seafood

    • Live seafood exported by air is thought to include scallop, surf clam, oyster, and hairy crab.
    • Inworld Kitaguni Bussan does not export live seafood overseas for the following reasons.
    • The quantity and specifications of the incoming goods are affected by fishing patterns.
    • We cannot guarantee the maintenance of the live state.

    Since shipping takes a number of days to transport, we use shipping services for exporting room temperature and frozen seafood with a long shelf life.

    • Containers

    When exporting by sea freight, we use 20-foot or 40-foot containers.
    In the case of seafood, the use of dry type is rare, and reefer (refrigeration and freezing) type is often used.

    Depending on the weight of the product and the strength of the materials used to pack the product, stacking high may crush the lower items.Therefore, it is thought that there are few cases where the container is filled to the ceiling.

    In many cases, it is loaded with 7 to 10 layers of cardboard boxes and the height is kept to about 150 to 170 cm.Therefore, the actual weight of the seafood loaded is often 7 to 8 tons for a 20-foot container and 14 to 16 tons for a 40-foot container.The sea freight rate is a flat rate per container, so the weight of the cargo loaded does not matter.In other words, the more you load in one container, the cheaper it will be.

    If you charter a full container (FCL), if the weight is less than 3 tons for a 20-foot container and less than 6 tons for a 40-foot container, the advantage of shipping by sea will be reduced.If the product to be exported is a small amount of 500 kg to 2 tons, it is advisable to use LCL (combined cargo).

    However, the shipping routes are often limited or the frequency of operation is low, such as once a month, and the convenience is not high.

    Shipping often causes schedule delays. During the typhoon season and winter, when there is a lot of bad weather, arrival can be delayed by 1 to 2 weeks. Therefore, it is important to plan the import and export schedule with plenty of time.

    Sea freight export is much cheaper than air freight. The estimated cost, including export handling fees and ocean freight, is as follows for FCL.
